Every Four Years it's the end of the world

Every four years its going to be the end of the world...
Unless a Democrat is elected president.
The problem with the Two Party System is that someday the unthinkable will happen and a Republican will get into the White House.
And all the little half- steps and watered down reforms of the moderate right professional politicians that composes the Democrats these days will be blocked or dismantled.
Seriously, do the Obama loyalists really think that another four years of Obama will make his weak little reforms stick? How will they survive when solidly successfull programs such as Social Security and Medicare are on the chopping block of both parties?
Face it, O ye faithfull Obambots, under the current capitalist system, privatization of everything is the wave of the future. Both parties have explicitly said so. Global capitalism is not a sustainable economic system and a collapse is inevitable in the next 100 years or so.
So, socially and economically, the end is near for most working class Americans. Four more years of Barack " not quite as shitty as the other guy" Obama isn't going to slow the inevitable meltdown down by even a microsecond.

They won't listen, to them their guy is #1 because he plays for their team, the teams platform can be changed, excuses can be made, but you never criticize the capitalist in chief. The truth of the matter is the capitalist party has a bolshevik like hold over the political process, we aren't much functionally different anymore from the soviets. We both throw people in jail without trial for political motives, we both kill innocent civilians, we both give up out rights for a little security, and we both are spending large portions of GDP on pointless wars in the middle east that are bankrupting our societies. How's the soviet union doing by the way?

No, the only real difference between us and the soviets is that we don't question, we obey, we take it and so they don't need to be as brutal, even though they are when when the few of us do question. So, really you can say the only real difference is that we're almost drugged into submission with corporate "luxuries", rather than beaten into the ground by the KGB.

The similarities this days, especially on the cognitive dissonance level, to be found in arguments with both Democrats and Republicans, is horrifying.

Good job America, our obsession with a two party system and voting for the "lesser of two evils" has led to our current situation. The Democratic Party of today is a conservative party posing as a liberal party, and the Republican Party is mad as a sack of cats, and has as its representative a senile old guy who used to be kind of cool but now spends his time in heated and impassioned arguments with invisible people.

Seriously, the Republicans used to be the staid conservative party, stubborn, level-headed, maybe a little unfair at times but not crazy. Now they're batshit insane. If you told them it's Wednesday and their preferred pundit, politician, or magic holy book said it's Monday, they'd call you a liar, even if you have a calendar. You could show them a NASA website with the date and time on it and they'd say it's a lying government agency. Mad as a march hare without half the charm.

And now the Democrats are the staid conservative party.

I have a wacko right winger on HuffPo claiming that global warming is a lie because this winter was the coldest one on record. I provided the link to the Weather Channel report on 2012 and 2011 being the warmest winters on record. So he says the previous winters were abnormally cold, so I provide the links to 2008, 2009, 2010, all being the X warmest winter on record. So he says Britain had record cold, so I provide the link to the UK having had the warmest winter on record in 2012. On and on.

And yesterday I had a prolonged debate with an Obama supporter who was trying to make excuses for the Administration's war on marijuana and on medical marijuana dispensaries.

First he blamed Congress. I provided the laws that give the Executive branch the ability to change the schedule rating of any drug.

So then he said Obama wouldn't get re-elected if he ended marijuana prohibition. I provided the poll numbers where total marijuana legalization has majority support nationwide, and in every region of the country except the South. And medical marijuana legalization has majority support nationwide, period.

I also pointed out that Obama has adopted numerous positions more controversial than medical marijuana like gay marriage support. He claimed that the uproar from marijuana would somehow be greater, but provided 0 evidence to support that.

I laid out the numerous benefits of marijuana legalization. He made an appeal to authority, saying that something called the "The United States Medical Marijuana Chamber of Commerce" endorses Obama.

Cognitive dissonance, cognitive dissonance all the way down.
