How about a rimfire contest? Everybody owns a .22 or something similar.

I'd blow that away probably, I have a target 22 with a red dot site that I've been practicing with.

I'll make one for iron sights

You can take the red dot off and put on some weaver ironsProgurt wrote:I don't have any 22s with just iron sights

Yeah but on both my rifle and my pistol I have the sights right where I want them
Re: SR competitions need input
I will match my .17 HMR Marlin bolt- action against anything you folks can offer.
Out to 100 yards.

Unfortunately, I would need to go a good deal of practice before I could shoot competitively. Not to mention that the factory Ruger 10/22 I purchased for $200.00 is ill-suited for such a task.

This is a good opportunity to practice and find out where we're at. Sounds like fun. I sold my Marlin M30 to KVoimakas on the LGC, but I'd be willing to rent for the competition.
How about a simple open cal. iron sight 30 yard rifle comp. Come up with what ever style target you want and lets go for it.

I'd fine with that, and just for shits and giggles, I'd shoot my Mosin. My Polish mosin is actually pretty accurate.
But if I could make a suggestion, how about 25 yard? At least in my area, most of the ranges only go up to 25, even (for some reason) the rifle ones.
Re: SR competitions need input
I could do 25 yards over open sights.
Easy as cake.
P.S. It might do to post a list here of the weapons people have. It does not have to be detailed, just a rough description of the type and sights.
Here's a description of my rifles, for example:
centerfire rifle, semi- auto, iron sights ( I own 2 )
centerfire carbine, bolt- action, iron sights ( 1 )
centerfire pistol caliber carbine, semi- auto, red dot sight ( 1 )
rimfire rifle, bolt- action, scoped, no iron sights ( 1 )

Well I dought that would be a competition, but we'd have a blast anyway. I can't imagine the AK having a flying chance against the DPMS. We sure could try. You know what they say, "10% talent 90% effort".
