NDAA pretty much did it for me. After my disgust over O-Care, his reluctance to end DADT by executive order and the failure to pursue the blatant corruption of the bush admin., I had lost all hope. NDAA solidified my distrust.

My conscience tells me that casting my vote for O is functionally equivalent to casting it for mittens. This time, I am voting my conscience: Ross Carl Anderson, without concern over how my liberal comrades feel or think. If doing so costs O the election by sapping votes, it's on him. I didn't expect him to win every battle, I expected him to show up for the fight.

Holding my nose makes it difficult to breath.

This is why I like and respect you ro, you think for yourself, and aren't driven by fear.

If you want to pull the lever for obama, then do it. I won't condemn your decision. I'm just telling you why I won't.

Yeah, rereading, the "one of our heroes said so" may have come across derisively, which was not my intent.

I've been sort of hoping that there was some strategic consideration or argument that I have overlooked and I have been trying to tease that out of people in this thread. I suppose I really wish this was a decision that mattered more, but I also can't resist voting against the far-right fundamentalist block. I have to oppose them. They are the only evil worse than capital.

ETA: I didn't see a quiet sigh of exasperation smiley.

There is NO worse evil than capital. Simply for the fact that it has no real goals.

Honestly the only reason I can still see to vote for Obama is the apoplectic fits it'd throw the right wing fanatics into if he got elected. They'd think he's got four years left and no need to worry about re-election, there'd be nothing he couldn't do, and they'd flip the fuck out as a result. Pissing off conservatives is a great reason to do anything, the question is whether or not the desire to do that can override my personal sense of conscience.

If Ted Nugent's head exploded if Obama won, I would be sorely tempted to vote for the president.

I think that counts as a sub-set of my reasoning.

I heard theories that if Obama does win, the right will loose it's mind entirely and revolt. Not sure if that's a good analysis, I think the right wing talks big and neither side really has any balls, but it'd be funny as hell to see.
